MIT and InsideSales.com studied lead response across thousands of businesses. The finding holds for solar exactly as it does everywhere else: speed of response, not quote quality, is what separates a booked install from a lost one.
The UK solar market installed a record 267,032 systems in 2025, up 31% on the previous high. More than 5,250 MCS-certified contractors are now competing for the same homeowners, and that number is growing roughly 7% a year. Most of those homeowners request 3–5 quotes before deciding.
You can prove your quote was competitive. You can't prove the homeowner ever saw it before booking with someone else.
